Appointments can be made at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor ranks, commensurate with the individual's record. ISyE faculty are expected to lead independent research at the cutting edge of their field and build a strong sponsored‐research program. In addition, they are expected to contribute to both undergraduate and graduate teaching, as well as service to the school, institute, and profession.

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications

An earned doctorate is required by the start of the appointment. Successful candidates have an exemplary track record of research accomplishments as well as expertise or demonstrated interest in teaching and service.

Job Summary

The H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering of Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for an academic non-tenure track position to serve as faculty advisor to undergraduate ISyE students and teach one ISyE course per semester. The responsibilities span three main functions:

Responsibilities

Advising:

  • Direct undergraduate advising, work with the associate chair of undergraduate studies and director of student services to create and implement advising policies and procedures
  • Supervise three academic advisors
  • Academically advise a large number of IE undergraduate students on their degree requirements: course plans, IE track selection, study abroad, coop and internships, minors and certificates, etc.
  • Provide career counseling and referrals
  • Teach IE focused GT 1000 for freshman students in the fall
  • Advise IISE student chapter
  • Coordinate all FASET orientation sessions for admitted students
  • Advise ISyE Ambassadors
  • Serve on various Institute-level undergraduate-focused committees as needed
  • Attend meetings of UCC
  • Serve as department liaison for advising software
  • Represent ISyE at College of Engineering Advising Managers meetings

Recruiting:

  • Participate and be a liaison in undergrad recruiting activities, including monthly information sessions and annual admissions events for prospective students
  • Liaison to undergraduate students’ industry recruiters

Teaching:

  • Teach 1 ISyE course per semester in area of expertise

Other duties may be assigned as needed by the Director of Student Services and the School Chair.

Job Summary

The H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia, is seeking a dynamic and innovative educator to join our team as an Academic Professional or Senior Academic Professional rank. This full-time, non-tenure track position is focused on enhancing our curriculum through Project-Based Learning (PBL) and Technical Communication. Ideal candidates will have a robust background in developing engaging, project-based courses and a proven track record in integrating technical communication within an engineering context. We are particularly interested in individuals who are passionate about advancing students' engineering communication skills and who have demonstrated excellence in educational innovation.

This appointment is hybrid eligible.

Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Development: Design and implement project-based learning modules for industrial engineering, integrating comprehensive writing and communication tasks. Work closely with faculty to incorporate project-based learning and communication-focused assignments into existing courses. Offer ongoing support and resources to faculty and provide direct communication assistance to students within these courses.
  • Student Support: Serve as a key resource for both undergraduate and doctoral students, offering advice and support for communication-related assignments, including professional technical report writing to a variety of audiences, thesis proposal writing, scientific paper writing, thesis writing, and grant proposal writing.
  • Course Creation: Develop a 1-credit course aimed at freshmen and transfer students. This studio course will introduce the industrial engineering major, its various specializations, and core concepts.
  • Program Coordination: Consult with the Director of Technical and Professional Communication to confirm that communication support services align with the strategic objectives of the school's communication program.
