The sustainability operations group at Georgia Tech seek to achieve sustainability goals throughout campus operations in the areas of energy and water conservation, waste landfill diversion, and more. Senior Design groups working with this group would look to design innovative solutions to help tackle the most pressing issues in these areas.
Project Description
A ideal project would review the current goals and processes around sustainability goals in campus operations (waste, energy, or water conservation primarily) and examine constraints to those processes. Through on the ground data collection and interviews with stakeholders, the teams would design improvements to the current processes to help meet the campus goals. An example of a recent project is a study of recycling and composting programs for Georgia Tech Dining, which included extensive review of how students interact with Dining's waste bins to determine the best practices for achieving Zero Waste goals.
Skills
