Neighborhood Cooperative Ministries
Client Profile
Neighborhood Cooperative Ministries (NCM) is a faith-based nonprofit dedicated to providing emergency assistance to families in Norcross, Peachtree Corners, Doraville and Tucker, Georgia of Gwinnett County. For 35 years, NCM has served in one of the highest areas of need in Gwinnett County providing services including direct financial assistance (rent and utilities), food, clothing, medical assistance and various personal empowerment programs. NCM serves over 25,000 individuals annually in an area where 11,000 children face food insecurity and 15,000 families within 5 miles face a housing cost burden.
Project Description
NCM distributes over $1,000,000 in direct financial assistance and 300,000 pounds of food each year with the ultimate goal of increased financial stability and resilience for families. The organization's lack of an efficient process for the intake of new families in need creates chaos on certain days of the month and down time on others resulting in the organization not achieving key desired outcomes (primarily participation in programs and services designed to lead to financial stability). We would like a senior design team to document and analyze current client traffic patterns and design a more efficient system to schedule and manage interactions with families. Solutions may come through technology, clearer processes, and administration of those processes. Desired outcomes: Clearly defined and documented service delivery model, dashboard for operational efficiencies, adoption of technology to increase clarity of processes and maximize staff and volunteer resources.
Skills
Process improvement, technology integration, data analysis, workflow improvement, operations research, understanding of human service organizations (nice to have but not necessary)
