The project focuses on the effective design and use of contact tracing protocols to decrease the risk of infectious disease transmission during air travel. The team developed a novel decision-support tool for contact tracing investigations, estimating the infection risk for the passengers considering pathogen and flight parameters. The tool’s versatility enables comprehensive scenario analysis, and its back-end allows for continuous refinement of input parameters. The use of the tool results in expected savings of up to $300,000 per flight.
