Pinar Keskinocak was appointed to the William W. George Chair in the H. Milton School of Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISyE) beginning March 1, 2014.
The William W. George Chair was endowed to support a leading faculty member in the field of health systems whose interdisciplinary work and collaborations with other outstanding research and teaching organizations make an impact on the quality of health care delivery around the globe.
“Pinar has a distinguished record of accomplishments in the field of health systems and humanitarian logistics. This appointment provides a well-deserved opportunity to enhance her growing research and educational impacts in these much needed arenas,” said Jane Ammons, ISyE School Chair.
Keskinocak is also the co-director of the Center for Health and Humanitarian Logistics and the Associate Director of Research for the Health Systems Institute at Georgia Tech. She currently serves as a department editor for the journal Operations Research (Policy Modeling and Public Sector area) and as the president of the INFORMS Health Applications Society. She has had a passion for having a direct and positive impact in improving the quality of life for people around the globe in practice through her research since her graduate school days, and has gradually shifted and expanded her work from the for-profit sector towards applications of industrial engineering and operations research in the health and humanitarian sectors.
Her research has been published in journals such as Operations Research, Management Science, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, IIE Transactions, Naval Research Logistics, Interfaces, Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association, BMC Public Health, Epidemiology and Infection.
