Project Description

Currently B&K makes their best guess at a daily production schedule, begin producing and staging product, and then uses the experience of one person (Jack) to direct the loading pattern once he sees what is available to load. During times of peak production, there is a great deal of work-in-process clogging the aisles and staging areas. B&K would like to develop an optimization tool which looks at the product that to be produced and defines the sequence based upon these principles: a. Trucks should be loaded in the configuration that makes it easier for the field crews to unload and use. b. Product should be produced in the sequence they will be loaded.

Skills

- Creativity in "thinking outside the box"
- This is possibly a project that may include building a software program to analyze the shapes and weights of the parts and pieces to be loaded and organize them in the most efficient manner possible.
