Client Profile

The Credentialing department at Emory Healthcare is responsible for verifying and maintaining provider credentials, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting operational efficiency. However, current performance tracking methods may not fully capture the complexity of their work. The department lacks a robust, multivariable metric to assess individual credentialing specialists' performance, as well as a standardized set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to evaluate overall departmental effectiveness.

Project Description

Objective

This project aims to develop a comprehensive, data-driven performance metric for Credentialing Specialists that accounts for multiple variables influencing productivity and efficiency. Additionally, the team will establish department-level KPIs to monitor and report overall performance, identify bottlenecks, and drive process improvements.

Scope of Work

Data Collection & Analysis:

Review existing performance tracking methods.

Conduct stakeholder interviews to understand key performance factors.

Gather historical performance data for analysis.

Development of Multivariable Performance Metric:

Identify key factors that contribute to Credentialing Specialist performance (e.g., case complexity, turnaround time, error rates).

Design a weighted scoring model to assess individual contributions.

Establishing Departmental KPIs:

Define high-impact KPIs that align with departmental goals and industry standards.

Develop a dashboard/reporting structure to track performance over time.

Implementation & Recommendations:

Validate the proposed metrics through pilot testing.

Provide recommendations for integrating these metrics into current reporting processes.

Suggest strategies for continuous improvement.
