Neighborhood Meals on Wheels

Client Profile

Neighborhood Meals on Wheels is a non-profit member organization of Meals on Wheels America and serves Gwinnett County. Each weekday, volunteer teams prepare fresh meals at their 500 sq ft commercial kitchen in Sugar Hill, and then deliver them through their network of volunteer drivers to senior and disabled adults living in Norcross, Peachtree Corners, Duluth, Suwanee, Buford, Sugar Hill, and Lawrenceville, which is just a portion of the total county. There are 2 employees: an Executive Director and Volunteer Scheduler who manages our approximately 165 volunteers each month. NMOW is growing rapidly and will build a 4,040 sq ft facility with an 1,840 sq. ft. commercial kitchen which will be completed in 2025.

Project Description

Gwinnett’s senior population is projected to triple by 2050 and it is imperative that NMOW grow aggressively to be ready for this surge as baby boomers strive to age in place. NMOW is projected to grow 43% this year, delivering over 45,000 meals to approximately 225 senior adults throughout Gwinnett County with projections to grow another 28% in 2025. As NMOW continues to add service areas in Gwinnett County, we will need to grow substantially each year for the next couple of decades. We need help scaling our organization for future growth to meet Gwinnett’s rising need in this area. We are well-funded and are looking to invest in infrastructure for the future. We are looking for help in the following areas:

• Commercial kitchen and warehouse design/layout for maximum efficiency

• Inventory optimization and planning

• Routing and distribution of meal delivery

• Volunteer scheduling

• Process Improvement and simulation

• Data analysis and management
