At Wellstar, people are at the center of everything we do and every decision we make. As a not-for-profit organization, we have made a generational commitment to transform healthcare for all. We work to ensure every person has access to personalized care that helps them spend more time being a person, rather than a patient. That’s what we mean when we say we’re more than healthcare–we’re PeopleCare.Wellstar is nationally recognized for our inclusive culture, exceptional doctors and team members, and personal, high-quality care. We thoughtfully reinvest in prevention, wellness programs and charity care, and provide access to compassionate, world-class care through our expansive system of 11 hospitals, 329 medical office locations, 11 cancer centers, 91 rehabilitation centers, 35 imaging centers, 20 urgent care locations, five health parks, three hospice facilities and two retirement villages.
Project Description
System Ancillary Simulation Project(s)a. Problem Scope:
i. To improve decision making and understand the potential impact of changes to our system delivery model, Wellstar is working to map out and simulate our ancillary services for our health system, starting with Imaging centers.
ii. Depending on where we are at the time, this project could entail simulating one or more of the sites for a specific ancillary service. This could be Imaging, lab, rehab, pharmacy, or sleep lab.
b. Desired Outcomes:
i. Work with the Director of Industrial Engineering at Wellstar to partner with the ancillary site leader(s) to understand current flow, challenges, and staffing patterns.
ii. Analyze Epic dataset to determine scheduling / arrival patterns, turnaround times, and baseline performance (for validation)
iii. Update the simulation model in Simul8 (altering the existing model for that site) and validate against baseline data.
iv. Determine future scenarios for testing with site leader.
v. Make recommendations on process / staffing / scheduling changes based on simulation outcomes.
